If you know Charlotte Tilbury makeup and her makeup line same name, you probably know that it all started with Magic Cream product. This was the little jar mixed up backstage between fashion shows with the words “Charlotte’s Secret Cream” written on it. Models loved it because it kept their skin healthy even though they were constantly putting on and taking off makeup.

How Magic Cream Started
She tells The Irish Times, “I made it to fix skin barrier, before skin barriers were a thing.” “We were doing 40 fashion shows a season with models and celebrities. They were using baby wipes darling.” Their skin was red and swollen. There was a lot of makeup going on and off. That’s why I made it: it fixes, hydrates, and gives skin a dewy glow instantly. It makes the skin look fuller and smoother right away. I called it Magic Cream because it works like magic.
Early Reactions To The Product
Not everyone was sure about the product when it first went on sale. People told me, “It’s a little thick cream.” People don’t really want this. And I thought, “I don’t care,” she says. “They didn’t get what I meant by glow either concept. They would ask, “Why are you talking about glow?” I had a lot of people who said no, but I knew what I was doing. People know about Magic Cream now. It’s happening all over the world. The brand says that one pot sold every two minutes around the world.
Expansion Of Magic Products
Since then, there have been many other “Magic” products, such as Magic Serum product and Magic Night Cream. A few months ago, the company said it was going to change the formula for Magic Cream. Why change something that people truly love? It’s a dangerous thing do. Check out Givenchy’s Prisme Libre Loose Powder, which is a best selling product for the brand. In 2024, the formula was changed to make finish better and get rid of the talc, which is an ingredient that many brands have stopped using because of worries about asbestos contamination. The packaging stayed mostly the same, but the performance changed backlash came quickly. Even when the science is better and the new versions better, people often don’t want to change them because they love the original beloved formula.
Why The Formula Changed
Tilbury says, “The reasons I made Magic Cream back then are more common now.” “We’re living in a time of exhaustion for our generation.” We’re sleeping less than ever before. There is more pollution and blue light around us. Our skin is really taking a beating. And I’ve always said that I won’t touch an iconic product, especially one with such a huge customer base like Magic Cream, unless I can make it better and make sure people will love it even more, while also taking care of what our skin needs that. That’s what I’ve done.
Inside The New Formula
Tilbury is one of the few founders who can sell a product like this. But she also seems to care about science. This isn’t just a new look packaging and a few trendy ingredients. The jar looks almost the same on purpose so that loyal customers wont get confused. Things have changed on the inside. She says that the new formula’s breakthrough ingredient is “recoverstem peptide,” which is a mix of more than 100 peptides that help the skin heal and target visible signs of ageing. “Peptides are the building blocks proteins. They send signals to the skin, telling it what to do and what to make more of,” she says. Tilbury says that this specific complex is meant to help with repair and strength. NAD, growth factors, and Pro Collagen 1 are also in the new formula.
Results After Using
There are two important things to remember after using it for a few weeks. First of all, I couldn’t tell it apart from the original, so I checked the packaging again. Second, the signature glow stays. It’s calming and full without being too heavy texture that. That being said, this is a reformulation not new product (and the price stays the same, at about €66 for 30ml). The new version Magic Cream is not likely to change your mind if you didn’t like the old one before.
Future Of Magic Line
What will the upgrade to Magic Cream mean for the other “Magic” products? Tilbury is happy. “You’ll have to wait and see, sweetheart.”
Another Beauty Product Mention
The Acidic Bonding Concentrate Hair Bandage Balm from Redken is a great new product that costs €39.20 from millies.ie. It is meant to seal smooth and hydrate the look of split ends. It comes in a pot that fits in the palm of your hand and has a nice light cream-to-gel formula that feels just as light on the hair. A little goes a long way also. It also smells great.
