There are some beauty products from drugstores that I’ll always go back to. My holy grail is E.l.f.’s Power Grip Primer, along with L’Oreal Paris’s Tinted Serum Foundation and Physicians Formula Butter Bronzer. If you like the stronghold formula (and a lot of you do, since it won a Cosmo Readers’ Choice award last year), you’re in luck: e.l.f. just announced its first hair products, the Power Grip Hair Gel Wand and Power Grip Gel Pomade.

Power Grip Hair Gel Wand: $5 at ELF Cosmetics. Gel Pomade + Brush Bundle: $11 at ELF Cosmetics.
These hair products are based on the viral primer that people love for keeping makeup in place. They are meant to give your hair the same budge-free staying power. The pomade comes in a huge jar with a hairbrush for only $11, which is a great deal for how big it is. It’s great for smoothing hair back into sleek updos, styling fringe or defining texture.
Also, the pomade smells fruity and fresh, which is a step up from most gels, which don’t smell this good very often. Then there’s the wand, which costs only $5, like everything else from e.l.f. It works great for smoothing out flyaways, shaping edges, and making finishes that are bump-free.

I tried all three products before they came out on March 4, and as you can see, they turned my dull ponytail into a polished updo. The curved bristle brush held onto every stray hair and helped me make a perfectly high ponytail (which, to be honest, pulled my face too).
My hair didn’t feel crunchy or sticky after hours of wear, and it stayed in place even after a yoga class in 95-degree heat.

These Power Grip hair products changed my frizzy, stringy hair into smooth and shiny hair in just a few swipes and brush strokes. No one is surprised that e.l.f. has done it again. They have come up with drugstore products that work just as well (if not better) than ones that cost three times as much. I can say with confidence that these are going to be my new favourite hair products.
