Should you choose a neutral colour and keep things simple, or should you choose a bright colour that will get you compliments every time you show off your hands? To help you choose a colour before you go to the nail salon this month (or to make it easier if you do your own nails), we’ve put together a list of the most popular nail colours for February.

Vicki Ornellas is a manicurist and global educator for Ardell. Galinda Jimenez is a nail expert and global education manager for OPI. Madi Monroe is a manicurist and trend expert for Instagram.
For people who like to keep things simple, opaque pink nails are great because they go with everything and aren’t too loud.
It’s also a great choice instead of some of the really bright colours we’ve seen lately. Vicki Ornellas, a manicurist and global educator for Ardell, says, “Clients are ready for a change to light colours after the winter dark colours.” “Clients want a light spring look after so many dark vampy reds.” This colour is popular all year long, no matter what season it is.

Red Chrome
During the holidays, red chrome was very popular. Now that Valentine’s Day is coming up, it’s an even better nail colour to try. To get this look, put on magnetic silver polish and then use a magnet to pull the metal to the top. After that, all you have to do is put on one coat of jelly red. Ornellas says, “If you don’t have jelly red, use a dark red and add a top coat to make it see-through.” “Magnetic gels have come a long way; they now have more metal particles, which gives you a deeper design and colour.”
Pink with a hint of pearl
February’s most important holiday is Valentine’s Day, so it’s not surprising that different shades of pink and red are popular this month. Jimenez says, “I think clean girl makeup has made its way to manicures, and I love it.” “This style is here to stay because it is classy, doesn’t need much upkeep, and is neutral.”
Milky White and Red
Here’s a fun way to get into the Valentine’s Day mood. Begin with a milky white base and add bright red hearts, lips, French tips, or stripes to it. Manicurist Madi Monroe says, “This is so much fun for February.” “I love putting kisses on every nail. It looks like the kisses are on the fingers near the nails too.” It feels so sexy. Also, don’t be afraid to use nail stickers if your nail tech can’t paint them on. Monroe says that the good ones last a long time!
Nails with Pink Jelly
This popular nail colour for February has a little bit of colour and a lot of texture. Monroe says, “It’s a light pink base with a dark candy pink ombre in the middle.” She says you can even put little bows, hearts, and twinkle charms on top. “I love the Korean “jelly nail” trend for February. It’s so cute! Begin with a light pink and then ask your nail technician to use the airbrush method to add a darker pink in the middle for an ombre effect.

Burgundy Wine
If you still like deep colours, try on burgundy wine. Jimenez says it’s a less severe version of inky black nails that still makes a big statement. She says, “Wine red nails are not a new trend by any means, but they are still a classic for many.” “I think this trend will last because of the ‘red nail theory’ that has been all over social media.”
